Motorola has finally launched its most advanced and technically complete phone in the name of DROID. With every second manufacturer launching an Android phone, it was inevitable for Motorola to launch an Android stunner to sustain itself in the market. After disappointing everyone for so many years with not-so-great phones, finally it seems Motorola has delivered.

The Motorola DROID is beautiful in a different sense. It looks like a robust factory phone with a manly appeal to it. The phone has a huge 3.7 inch display and has a dedicated slider QWERTY keypad attached to it. The keys are well positioned and are comfortable to use. The onscreen keyboard is also comfortable to use for shorter messages. The full glass display ensures an awesome experience while surfing websites

The 256RAM inside the DROID provides a robust performance and gets all the basic tasks done without any lag. The multitasking performance of the phone is also very good. The phone has a 5-megapixel camera with flash and so imaging is a good experience in the day time as well as during the nights or dim lights. The focus feature of the phone is a bit slow so you have to be patient while taking snaps. The videos on the phone are very clear and full marks to the phone for its video clarity. The phone also rocks in the multimedia department with awesome sound quality and an excellent music player.

All the applications on the phone are responsive, although some third party applications are not supported by the phone. There is a handsome dock that comes with the phone that adds to the style quotient of the phone. The battery life of the phone is not so great but goes for around 24hrs without any hassles. A definite winner on all grounds for sure. The Motorola DROID is here to stay.

Status: Rumored

The Samsung Galaxy Spica is the successor of Samsung Galaxy and is another super device in the Android family. When Samsung launch a device, they ensure that their device is unfamiliar and unique and they have lived up to their expectations once again. The Samsung Galaxy Spica is by far the only Android OS supported device till date that supports DivX and Xvid files. Considering the fact that several videos today are in the DivX format, one must say this is a revolution.

The phone looks very impressive and the overall finishing looks sturdy. The back of the phone provides a good grip to hold the phone and is not slippery. The keypad of the phone has a unique D-like structure with easy accessibility to the menu and the homepage. The AMOLED touch screen provides a more vibrant and pleasant color quality. The Switchers application provides an easy access to all the frequently used applications like GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The Galaxy Spica is loaded with a 3.2-megapixel camera but lacks the autofocus feature and also lacks flash. Hence, the pictures in daylight are brilliant but cannot say the same with pictures taken in dimlight.

The video performance is excellent thanks to the compatibility for DivX and the audio performance is also standard with an excellent music player and library. The 800 MHz processor provides excellent performance and multitasking compatibilities. The battery life of the phone is also excellent and lasts up to 3 days with full utilization. The overall multimedia support is the best as compared to any other Android phone. Despite some minor goof-ups, a must possession for smartphone lovers who want decent multimedia in their device.

HTC has the reputation to bring one of the best smart phones available in mobile market today but some years ago it has lost the battle ground while competing with Apple’s Iphone which bring revolution in the smart phone market but finally HTC is ready to get it back from Apple by introducing it’s latest hi-fi gadget named as HTC Dragon, also known as the Passion.

Rumors are catching up that it is loaded with Google’s mobile operating system called Android. At present Google is testing it thoroughly before it make a foray in the smart phone market. Reportedly it has just one virtual keyboard with a powerful 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile processor. Earlier version of HTC had physical keyboard and they used much slow processor. HTC Dragon will directly compete with iphone and counts over Motorola’s Droid. It has a 4.3-inch (480×800) capacitive display and a lithe silhouette. The powerful operating system of Google made it an unmatchable device with which you will get tons of features. This time it’s quite possible that it will be market with a brand name of Google as a “Google’s Phone” because Google is directly involved in the development. It is speculated that HTC dragon will provide a screen resolution of 800*400. The phone will be fully touch screen loaded with 2.0 firmware software along with the HTC Sense user interface which is applied for style. So this new Smart device from HTC can add a fuel to smart phone market and may be it will proved out to be “value for money”

Review

Samsung’s first Android phone, Bigfoot has reached market with a bang giving competition to other android phones. Along with new operating system it has a slide out QWERTY keyboard, 3 or above MP camera, Wifi, GPS and a 3 inch AMOLED display.

PROS

The phone have much thinner and sleeker design with black front and volume switches on the side which gave it an attractive appearance just like apple’s iphone.

Sound quality is awesome as speakers are well placed to allow to listen to songs with lid closed that too without any distortion.

This phone would be using first version of Android 2.0 named Donut and is believe to turn out much better than previous versions of Android.

Samsung Bigfoot would be having quad band GSM and tri-band 3G connectivity which itself provides an edge over other smartphones.

It has various widgets included like world clock, calendar, social networking sites and it might include google search as well.

CONS

The main keys of keyboard like Home, menu are missing from keyboard. They might be included in touchscreen display but not present on keyboards.

Samsung phone generally have battery and budget problem. Hope this phone solves both of them.

Samsung hasn’t given much of a colour option- only black yellow colour has been out yet with yellow on sides and otherwise black on front and back.

For those who are fascinated by the features and looks of this phone have to wait a little longer because this phone hasn’t released yet and even there is no news of releasing yet.

With almost every second mobile manufacturer now entering the Android competition, it is now Lenovo’s turn. Lenovo has entered the smartphone market with a bang by launching the Lenovo O1 OPhone. Lenovo has launched the OPhone in alliance with China Mobile and aims to target the iPhone market base. The O1 runs the OMS (Open Mobile System), which is China Mobile’s Android based OS.

Although not a frontrunner in the mobile manufacturing arena, Lenovo has ensured that the OPhone is an absolutely powerful gadget and will definitely give a hard time to the other players in the market. The OPhone comes with a stunning 624MHz processor that performs all basic functions on the phone effortlessly and the multitasking capacity of the phone is also at par with any other smartphone.

The phone comes in two memory variants, the 8 GB and 16 GB which makes it evident that it is directly targeting the iPhone market.

The overall finishing of the phone and the looks are a definite iPhone killer and are decent and stylish at the same time. No flashy buttons on the keypad gives that extra edge to the phone over the others. It has awesome 3.5 inch touch screen with a crystal clear display. The 5-megapixel massive camera makes imaging a pleasant experience and since it is equipped with the flash, pictures in the night time are as equally impressive as the ones in the day time. All Android applications and other frequently used applications like GPS, Wi-Fi etc work seamlessly considering the fact the phone works on the OMS. The audio and video quality of the phone is also supreme, and the 3-5mm jack ensures compatibility with all headphones in the market. The music player is also well designed and is a visual treat. One must say that being a newcomer, Lenovo has definitely managed to get its basics right.
